Fort Johnson Privy (Out House)

I've written before about the importance of the outhouse at Old Fort Johnson. It is believed that George Washington sat here, when he travelled through the Mohawk Valley. Enjoy this one minute video of one of the most important outhouses in the United States.

  • I don't know whether to giggle or to feel awe.

This reminds me of the story about Ethan Allen when he was being held prisoner in England. The British tried to break his spirit by making him use a privy that had a picture of George Washington insultingly hung on the wall. Allen fired back that this was very appropriate, for "there is none that can make the British shit so quick as General Washington."
