No Taxpayer Money For Smoke Shack

Montgomery County has agreed to pay for half the cost of a smoking shack outside of the County Office Building. If smokers want a place to smoke, they should cough up (pun definitely intended) the money themselves. Taxpayer’s money should not be used to support smoking.

  • I AGREE! When most places of business are moving away from even allowing the habit to continue on premises, the idea of the County encouraging it by offering to pay for half of this shelter is ludicrous. Maybe the County should consider paying for a smoking cessation program for those people. By allowing them to continue to smoke they not only send the wrong message to the young folks but they also compound the issue with the already overpriced medical insurance coverage (which by the way we also pay for their’s through our taxes).
